Our partner is currently seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist based in Dayton, OH. This role will involve leading environmental permitting activities for electricity transmission and distribution construction projects. The successful candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and support various environmental initiatives. This position presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to sustainable energy practices within a dynamic work environment.
Responsibilities:
Take charge of environmental permitting activities for electricity transmission and distribution (T&D) construction projects.
Prepare and submit Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and coordinate environmental consultants for assessments and permit applications.
Develop or refine management and permitting programs to prioritize, assess, and obtain permits effectively.
Provide environmental support to T&D teams, including conducting due diligence, managing emergency responses, and overseeing waste management.
Liaise with local, state, and federal agencies on environmental aspects of T&D projects.
Collaborate with the T&D Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Analyst and team members to ensure compliance with permits.
Assist Planning, Siting, and Outreach teams, potentially contributing to renewable energy projects.
Some travel between Indianapolis and Dayton may be required. Necessary work authorization documentation will be provided in compliance with applicable law.
Requirements
Hold a bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
Possess a minimum of seven years' experience in environmental construction permitting in Indiana and Ohio.
Have knowledge of environmental construction permitting regulations and laws, including CWA, stormwater permitting, and cultural resources management.
Familiarity with ASTM Standard Practice ASTM E1527-21.
Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, with strong communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Willingness to work in a Union environment and hold a valid Indiana or Ohio driver's license.
Preferred Skills:
Hold a master's degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
Possess experience in T&D and renewable energy construction permitting.
Familiarity with City of Indianapolis Drainage Permits.
Experience in land acquisition environmental due diligence and waste management.
