Business Process Analyst – Data Protection
Remote with travel to London office two days per month
6 month contract
£250 per day Outside IR35
We are recruiting for a Business Analyst to join a major rail organisation based in East London. 
This role works closely with the Data Protection Manager and all relevant stakeholders to gain an understanding of business requirements, and document key data protection processes to ensure the company adheres to Data Protection legislation across all functions of the business. This post has no direct reports but supports the delivery and enablement of company Data Protection Vision and Strategy and other key business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
 
Collaborate with the data protection teams across the group through periodic meetings to share best practice and improve assurance and governance.
Attend internal Data Protection forums and at group level to understand the latest events which engage data protection matters.
Reach out to the Project Management team to provide advice and training on completing and continuous updating of Data Protection Impact Assessments.
Liaise with Departmental data protection leads and process activity owners to ensure data within the Information Management System is maintained, and data maps are updated regularly by the data owners for each business function.
Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across all departments to support the management of all personal data registers to ensure they are accurate and up to date.
Forge a network across all business functions to raise data protection awareness across the business, and support customer facing business functions to achieve compliance through delivery of data protection training.
Collaborate with the IT Information Security team to maintain appropriate governance between data security and data protection.
Support data breach investigations, offering guidance when notified of a breach and escalating as appropriate to senior management.
Contribute to the development and review of policies, procedures, and guidance to ensure information assets are adequately protected, and information is managed in accordance with relevant legislation.
Maintain the Information Management System to ensure all data subject rights requests and data breaches are correctly logged and be first point of contact/support for Data Protection Assistants to ensure all requests are managed appropriately and responded to within the correct timeframes.
Support the Data Protection Manager with wider priorities and projects, as and when required.Skills required:
 
Holding a recognised qualification or having demonstrable knowledge of applying data protection principles is favourable to being successful in this role. However, a proven skillset to adapt to data protection would be considered.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop and present reports for supporting the data protection manager as required.
Effective at engaging with, listening to and relating to internal and external stakeholders at all levels with a desire to build effective working relationships.
Good organisation and time management is essential, with strong analytical skills and an ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent IT skills with experience of using Microsoft 365, in particular SharePoint and Teams are key to being successful in this role. Proficiency MS Visio (Data Mapping Tool) would also be desirable.
Experience of delivering training to support data protection awareness with persuading and influencing skills is desirable.
Familiarity with cyber security desirable but not essential.
