Shop Foreman / Welder / Fabricator
My client has been in business for over 45 years. They design, manufacture, install, service, and upgrade material handling equipment.
We are seeking a dependable and experienced Shop Foreman / Fabricator to work inside our shop in Merrillville, Indiana. This is a full-time Monday-Friday position, 5 AM to 3 PM, with some Saturday and Sunday hours as needed.
Job Description:
The Shop Foreman is responsible for the safety, control, maintenance, and supervision of equipment, manpower, and use of materials in his/her assigned area of responsibility. The Shop Foreman is responsible for the staffing and scheduling of all personnel directly associated with the production operations.
Responsibilities:
Provide supervision to 5 shop fabricators and shop painter to maintain a pace of work to achieve our production goals.
Monitors scheduling
Interacts with Engineers and print reading
Communicate with the fabricators to accurately produce equipment with the upmost quality while maintaining safety.
Maintains the shop equipment and orders supplies for the shop to run smoothly.
Fabricate machinery using Mig welding equipment.
Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
Work with hand tools, power tools, and other fabrication equipment.
Perform work with high attention to detail to ensure product quality.
Follow company guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications:
5 years supervisory position
10 to 15 years of experience in industrial machinery fabrication. With an emphasis on layout and print reading.
Must have or able to pass welding test AWS D14.1 (welding of industrial and mill cranes)
High School Diploma or equivalent certification.
Self-starter/ work with little supervision.
Ability to handle physical workload.
