JOB SUMMARY
Prince Industries is currently seeking an Estimator and Mechanical Designer to join our engineering team at our Batavia, IL location. The Estimator performs daily estimating functions to consist of quote facilitation, preparation and completion of quotes by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Understands, observes and enforces all necessary safety procedures. (i.e. safety glasses in shop, etc.)
Responsible for quote preparation, which includes: maintaining Quote Log; submitting RFQ's to material and/or service vendors; generating all manufacturing details, including cycle times; determine tool, fixture or gauge requirement and costs.
Preserving approved quotes per Prince Process. 
Frequently reviews all correspondences (ie. voice mail messages, emails, faxes, mail) and responds to all requests in a timely manner.
Reviews  new or revised customer prints to determine necessary quote changes and/or affects on manufacturing process. 
Proficient in the use of current part drawing or programming software applications, SolidWorks, as required.
Communicates daily to department supervisor of any major estimating problems or concerns.
Daily uses computer Vantage System/MicroEstimating system to input, track and locate information as needed in accordance to established company guidelines.
Understands, enforces and follows Prince Industries quality certifications.   (i.e. ISO, QS).
Works independently with minimal daily supervision.
Performs job requirements using sound judgement and operates within the guidelines established  by the company.
Works effectively with all department personnel and co-workers in a harmonious and
Cooperative manner to meet the needs and goals established by the company.
Maintains good housekeeping and safe work conditions in department.
Additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor; may include department transfers or special
Projects in order to meet production needs. contacts customer as required to discuss and clarify technical issues.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree required in Engineering (or related field of study) or 2 year technical certification with equivalent related engineering or machining experience required.
Minimum of 3 or more years previous work experience in engineering and related machining environment with good understanding of machinery capability.
Apprenticeship, formal training, college course work or continuing education preferred.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general reports, business periodicals, technical blue prints, customer specifications, and procedures, or governmental regulations.
Proficient in the use of current  part drawing or programming software applications [Solid Works, etc.] as required.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry to apply concepts to practical situations
Ability to recognize and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively write business correspondences and generate reports as needed.
Ability to communicate effectively both in oral and written form and interact appropriately with all levels of the company and customers, in which it pertains to the job responsibilities.
Ability to present information accurately and respond to questions from groups of managers, department supervisors and customers regarding engineering quotes, etc.
Excellent troubleshooting or problem resolution skills.
Excellent computer skills to perform data input and inquiry. (i.e. MS Word, Excel, etc.)
Excellent organizational skills required to complete work assignments and prioritize urgent matters in order to meet deadlines established.
Ability to perform effectively under pressure: involves coping with stress and maintaining a  composed, professional manner in all circumstances related to employees or customers.
Excellent knowledge of engineering concepts and practices.
Excellent knowledge of related machine equipment and basic tooling or material requirements.
Maintains professional work appearance as established by the company in displaying good hygiene and proper dress attire.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Regularly required to sit, stand or walk the duration of the shift, 8-10 hours.
Occasionally required to lift, push or pull up to 30 lbs.
Frequently required to sit, stoop, kneel reach or bend.
Regularly exposed to moving machine parts when in plant.
