As Scout’s Project Finance Analyst, you will conduct extensive financial analysis to inform strategic decisions in every aspect of our business, which includes wind, solar, and storage projects. You will research and integrate findings about specific markets’ financial incentives and regulatory structures into our models, driving strategic investment strategy. You will support transactions logistically and will represent Scout with authentic professionalism to all of our business partners and counterparties.
You will be responsible for project-based financial modeling and preparing documentation, reporting and analysis to assist investment decisions. Your work will impact many functions across Scout, including:
Development: You will provide insight to the Development team about which inputs drive their projects’ financial performance so that they can adapt their development plans accordingly.
Origination: Your analysis will inform pricing strategies developed by the Origination team to ensure that the long-term revenue streams will contribute to target rates of return and integrate needed risk management strategies.
M&A and Project Finance: You will provide key support to M&A and project finance transactions. Your financial analysis will inform Scout’s negotiating position and you will provide logistical support in developing and maintaining data rooms and responding to diligence requests.
Corporate Finance: while the bulk of your work will focus on project-level finance, you will also inform corporate-level finance financial modeling from time to time. This may include integrating the results of the project models, conducting more specific analysis, preparing reports to our investors, and preparing board papers that present the case for investment options.
We will rely on you to develop systems and tools to drive efficiency in our work. To do so, we expect that you will integrate the expertise you have developed in previous roles while continuing to advance your knowledge of our industry and innovation in renewable energy project finance.
You will report to Scout’s Senior Manager of Project Finance and will work alongside a high performing team of Analysts.
Key duties in your role include the following:
Develop and maintain fully structured (tax equity, debt and cash equity) internal financial models with recent project and corporate assumptions.
Coordinate with many different departments internally to update financial models.
Support scenario analysis for investment decisions and contract negotiations.
Support project finance and M&A transactions, including due diligence and investor relations.
Assist in building models, tools, process and infrastructure that support the organization's accuracy, efficiency and scalability.
Assist in managing construction loan drawdowns and financing agreement compliance.
Assist with project budgeting and corporate reporting.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics or a related field.
Experience with project finance models relevant to investment banking and/or the renewable energy industry. Experience modeling tax equity and debt structures is preferred.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Independent learner who can quickly apply lessons learned in one area to all other work areas.
Self-motivator with exceptional leadership and communication skills.
Ability to prioritize and deliver top-quality work product in multiple areas without direct supervision.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive duties.
Experience using influence rather than authority to achieve desired outcomes.
Authorized to work in the United States.
Timeline and Location

Our ideal candidate is located in Boulder or would be willing to relocate to Boulder in order to be able to commute to our Boulder office.

Benefits
Compensation
Target base salary: $80,000 - $95,000 (Negotiable for the right candidate.)
