About this client/child: Tyler (7) is an extremely bright and affectionate young boy. He loves space, maths, art, colours and photography. He enjoys cooking, home chores and science experiments at home. Tyler has ASC and ADHD; he is also currently being assessed for additional learning challenges. Tyler is very interested in people and enjoys being social. He can experience some meltdowns usually associated with being hungry or if the world around him is feeling a little chaotic – structure and routine are very important. Tyler decompresses by playing with his number blocks and reading to himself. He is currently home schooled and follows a full curriculum which his mum oversees along with two tutors.
Overview of role: This is an exciting opportunity for an SEN Nanny/Manny to help Tyler flourish whilst overseeing his schedule and homeschooling in tandem with his mum. Tyler is home schooled Monday to Thursday with only a two-hour session on Wednesday’s. As part of your role, you will be on hand to support Tyler through these sessions, help him in regulating his emotions and assist with some wider needs of the family. This may be running the odd errand, laundry, a grocery shop, some cooking and researching appropriate activities for you and Tyler to do together. He will be starting Occupational Therapy soon and as part of your role you will be accompanying him to these sessions. The main aspect is being an additional pair of hands and helping Tyler’s mum maintain ‘the calm’. This is a role that could evolve over time as the family are hopeful that Tyler will be accepted into a specialist private school and would be keen for his SEN Nanny/Manny to accompany him as his LSA. The family enjoy travelling whether this be abroad or to the countryside so would be very keen to find someone who had the willingness to travel with them. The family can offer a salary between £41,600.00 to £52,00.00 depending on experience.
Who this job would suit: We are looking for an SEN Nanny / Manny who has proven experience working with a young child with ASC and ADHD. Someone who is professional, proactive, able to use their initiative and who has excellent time-keeping and organisational skills - Tyler loves a schedule! Personality wise, someone who can bring positive energy but also a sense of calm would be a good fit. If you have new ideas and strategies this is also really welcomed by mum.
What’s great about this job: This is a wonderful opportunity to make a huge impact with a family who are looking for someone they can work together with long-term. There are great travel opportunities with the family, and this is a role where you can really add your flare if you have a passion for autism and researching and implementing new strategies.
