We are pleased to be recruiting for an HR Systems Assistant Officer to join Gwent Police at their Police HQ in Cwmbran.

This is a full time position working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with an element of Hybrid working. This is a temporary assignment initially until August 2025.

Please do not apply for this position unless you have lived in the UK for at least the last 3 years continuously. This is due to Police Criteria. Anything less cannot be considered.

POSITION SUMMARY

To support the department through the processing, preparation and interpretation of information and the provision of an efficient and effective administration service.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

To provide first point of contact support for the department, responding to and dealing with enquiries in a timely and professional manner, ensuring efficient and effective administration services

To proactively identify and resolve issues at source in liaison with identified individuals.

To ensure the prompt and accurate processing of data within force systems.

Collect, interpret and evaluate information from a wide range of information sources in a timely manner to facilitate informed decision making.

Create and maintain departmental electronic filing systems and ensure the accuracy and integrity of the information held within the Force systems through regular audit and checking procedures

To raise purchase requisitions and orders to facilitate procurement of goods and services, according to Force financial procedures, recording all spends accurately to enable budget management review

To update and keep current, the team/department area on the force intranet as directed, in order to ensure accurate and up to date information is available.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must have NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration or HR related qualification, or relevant experience.
Must have previous experience of administrative support.
Must possess experience in providing excellent customer service.
Must have knowledge of office management principles, methods and procedures.
Must have outline knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulations
Must be IT literate in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Must be able to evidence the ability to interpret and present information.
Must be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills.
Level 1 Welsh essential (training will be given). Welsh language skills Level 2 and above are desirable.
