Job Title: Social Work Manager

Location: Barnsley, S71

Salary: Paying up to £42,500 per annum

Hours: 40 Hours per week, offering the option of hybrid working 1-2 days per week from home and the remainder on site. Flexibility with hours can be given, but will be dependent on service requirements.

What's expected of me as Social Work Manager?

As a Social Work Manager, you will be responsible and committed to manage and lead a team of 6 Social Workers (Assessors) based at a Family Assessment Unit. You will be dedicated in delivering top-tier support to both families and staff in accordance with Ofsted regulations. You will be required to hold exemplary safeguarding practices and be dedicated to facilitating positive outcomes for families.

As the Social Work Manager, you will collaborate closely with the Registered Manager and Assistant Manager, stepping into their roles when necessary. Your duties will encompass overseeing staff management and supervision for the Social Work team, ensuring comprehensive quality assurance of parenting assessments. Moreover, you will be accountable for the advancement and calibre of all final parenting assessments submitted to local authorities.

What are the key responsibilities as a Social Work Manager?

Hold effective assessment skills for children and families
Lead a team in providing holistic assessments, and sharing your social work expertise with your team
Confidently liaise with professionals and represent our client to their local authorities and stakeholders.
Monitor and evaluate work to ensure compliance and quality.
Support management in day-to-day operations, including on-call duties.
Conduct and manage risk assessments.
Actively promote safeguarding and welfare standards.
Create safe, structured learning environments.
Seek opportunities for practice improvement.
Establish and maintain professional liaisons.
Uphold high standards of social work practice.
Ensure quality childcare and house management.
Implement safer recruitment protocols.
Stay updated on legislation, guidance, and research.
Work within assessment frameworks for children in need.
Teach parenting skills and practices.
Evaluate intervention effects on child wellbeing.

What are the minimum requirements as a Residential Manager?

Social work qualification and registration with Social Work England
Minimum 3 years post qualifying experience
2 years in a supervisory role and management of staff
Must have worked in a children social work-related role and/or social care (in an assessment team, or looked after Children's team)
Sound knowledge of safeguarding, assessment practices and risk management
Confident In your knowledge of childcare law, government guidance and current social work research
Hold excellent report writing skills and able to manage your own workload
Experienced in overseeing quality assistance, and ensuring a robust assessment procedure is in place
Ideally hold a Level 5 diploma in Leadership and Management, or be willing to work towards this
Experience of PAM'S (Parenting Assessment Manual) or Parent Asses approach for assessing parents
Ideally experienced with Ofsted inspections and relevant frameworks
