£40 – 50 per hour

Duties/Responsibilities:
This is a senior post in the Planning Highways and Litigation team, and you will work closely with the Service Director, Legal Services management team and senior officers across the Client to Provide a full range of professional legal advice and assistance to Services, (including Cabinet and Committees etc.) and others with a focus on Planning,Highways, and environmental law combined with flexibility to undertake other local government law related work.
Provide legal advice to Members and Officers in relation to complex and routine planning, environment, highways and traffic regulation , public rights of way, Town, and Village Greens ; CPO and similar matters including advice and attendance at internal (officer and Member e.g. Committees ) and external meetings.
negotiation and drafting of complex and routine planning (s106) agreements and unilateral undertakings and highways agreements (s38/278) and orders and similar documents and undertake/assist in relation to challenges to decision making.
Identify new statute, case law and procedural developments relevant to this post and advise accordingly.
To undertake planning, highways and rights of way enforcement and advocacy where required.
To arrange effective representation where appropriate for the Client in connection with Planning, Highways , Public Rights of Way ,CPO and environmental law for example public enquiries and judicial reviews.
Supervise, train, mentor and manage members of the Planning and Highways team.
Provide training to members, officers, and outside bodies.
Support and assist in the commissioning of external legal advice.
Support and assist the Service Director and the management team with tasks and projects.
Undertake legal work on behalf of WYLAW client if required.
