HR Advisor

Newton Aycliffe

12 Month Contract

Negotiable Salary

To provide a comprehensive, generalist HR service to support INEOS Inovyn business objectives.

* The role will provide HR support for the Newton Aycliffe site and will be the internal HR focal point for the Site Manager, local site management, Trade Union representatives and employees.

* The role will interact closely with the UK HR Manager, UK Payroll Manager and the wider HR community within the UK primarily, including other INEOS businesses located at the Newton Aycliffe site.

* The job holder will establish and maintain relationships with apprenticeship training providers, recruitment connections e.g. local educational and training providers, local business and industry network, Occupational Health service providers and PHI providers.

* Provide generalist HR support, guidance and advice on all people related matters:

* Absence management

* Disciplinary, dispute and grievance management

* Train and development line managers to develop their competence and confidence in handling people related issues including, but not exhaustively, performance management, absence management and employee development.

* First line IR/ER response management and/or escalation in alignment with Company procedures

* Ensure clients are kept up to date with internal and external best practice, legislative or corporate changes.

* Utilise Company information systems to:

* Manage the employee life cycle in accordance with Company procedures.

* Maintain fit-for-purpose, updated succession plans in alignment with other HR colleagues to ensure cross business opportunities are identified and explored. Identify risk areas for the business and develop plans of action to address in a timely manner.

* Conduct robust recruitment processes in line with site/business needs including apprenticeship development.

* Support/train managers and employees on purpose and facilities of Company tools e.g. HR information systems, performance management processes.

* Manage first level employee/industrial relations discussions to address and resolve issues in a timely, legislatively and Company procedurally compliant way.

* Identify and escalate appropriate issues for attention to prevent unnecessary deterioration in relations.

* Effective and robust participation to local management meetings to ensure that people issues are identified, considered and addressed in a timely and appropriate way; ensure that people management is handled consistently and in line with Company expectations.

Requirements

* CIPD qualified, minimum Level 5 / graduate

* 5+ years’ experience working within a generalist HR function

* Experienced in working in a unionised environment

* Ideally experienced in working in multi-locational, matrix organisation

* Understanding and practical application of UK employment law

* Practiced in managing IR/ER situations

* Ability to coach and develop others at all levels in the organisation

* Competent in use of Microsoft Applications and electronic HR information systems e.g. Success Factors
