Day Work Controller
Reporting to the Assistant Plant Manager
Based in: Teesside (Redcar) with infrequent national travel

Position overview:
The role is predominantly an operational position, it requires in depth knowledge of permit to work and safe system of work management.
Key responsibilities:
The Day Works Controller will be responsible for ensuring all work activities that are undertaken by Sembcorp employees and contract partners are carried out with full compliance to statutory regulations, Sembcorp’s safe systems of work and management procedures.
Outside of outages, responsibilities will include: -
Work pack development and review
Plant knowledge
Design of isolation strategies
RAMS review and standardisation
Supporting documentation
Permit preparation
Management of simultaneous operations and sequenced work
Input into planning and scheduling
Planning for high hazard activities
During outage:
Permit issue
Permit prep
Work site visits
Plan attainment
Custodian of the Safe System of Work and Permit to work system for Operations as well as succinct co-operation with all other departments within Sembcorp energy UK
Incident investigations
Root cause analysis
Incident reporting responsibilities
Internal auditing
Site customer interface meetings
Planning interface between Maintenance, Engineering, Projects infrastructure, Buildings, Road & Land Management and Operations
Skills distribution and flexibilities
Dedicated resource to Outages
Essential
Industrial experience of safe systems of works in Petrochemical, Chemical or Power generation
Permit to experience in; Management of Hot works, managing contractors, Excavations, Confined space entry management & General permit to work
Detailed understanding of CMMS systems
Experience of Microsoft packages
Microsoft outlook
Atmospheric sampling experience
Atmospheric Air monitoring equipment
Competence in purging activities
Working knowledge of SHE, Management, and Operational Procedures
People management. Able to motivate and use rational persuasion to influence others, set priorities and delegate in a clear and concise manner
Able to communicate with and influence people at all levels

Leadership qualities
Very good verbal and written communication skills
Interpret civil and mechanical drawings
Understand function of support teams (internal/external) and their interface
Excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to manage and provide leadership to the team whilst being part of the team
