An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Procurement team for a Senior Category Manager based at One Stratford Place.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Category Manager to oversee all procurement activities across our organization and its affiliates. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies that align with our established processes and company guidelines. You will negotiate contracts with external parties, provide guidance to stakeholders, and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.

Additionally, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders to advise on procurement protocols, processes, and governance, and establish and manage contracts with suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness and alignment with organisational goals.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Category Manager include preparing or assisting in the preparation of recommendations for company meetings, supporting cross-organizational initiatives, and providing support for team development and knowledge growth. You will also work closely with the Head of Procurement, contract managers, and stakeholders to develop procurement strategies, drive continuous improvement in sustainable procurement, and ensure compliance with UK laws and industry standards.

The Senior Category Manager will also be responsible for Supplier Relationship Management for cross-departmental supply arrangements.

What we are looking for

We are seeking a colleague who is hands-on and capable of effectively managing multiple workstreams. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of experience in a strategic hands-on procurement role. Ideal candidate will hold an MCIPS qualification, a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), or transferable experience in a regulated environment.

As the Senior Category Manager, you should have a solid understanding of regulated procurement processes and routes to contract, including all procurement documentation and governance requirements. Additionally, experience in stakeholder management and supply chain planning is essential. The ideal candidate is required to undertake horizon scanning for the designated category area and ensure that evidence-based decision criteria is used for procurement advice, guidance and delivery.

In addition to this, working knowledge of UK contract law, government procurement legislation and procurement regulations is required. Proficiency in IT systems and tools such as MS Office, procurement portals, and procure-to-pay systems.
