What you’ll be doing
Every day we supply 2.6 billion litres of water, but sadly not all of that gets to our customers. We know it’s not acceptable to be losing precious water and we’re doing something about it. Last year, we reduced the amount of water lost by 5.4%. Our aim is to reduce our leakage by 20.4% between 2020 and 2025, with further large reductions beyond that.

To provide the most efficient and effective reduction in leakage, we need to continuously improve insight into where the leakage is in the network and how we are performing. We also need to ensure we select the most appropriate and cost-effective interventions on our water supply network to best manage down leakage, both in the shorter term and the longer term. The purpose of this role is to help us to provide the most accurate understanding of leakage levels at a local level for our operational teams to use for their day-to-day targeting of leakage control. It is also about helping us understand which leakage interventions are working best.

As the Leakage Strategy Analyst, you will become an expert user of our leakage management system Netbase, and the underlying data, and provide support to the digital team who will be upgrading the system to the latest version through system testing and user acceptance testing. You will also work to support the two Leakage Strategy Technical Specialists to drive improvements in data and systems to deliver enhancements to the business in leakage targeting and developing longer-term DMA and trunk main leakage plans.

Day to day responsibilities include:

System testing and user acceptance testing of the upgrade to Netbase 6.26
Support the development of the 10-year DMA/zonal action plans with specific targets to improve leakage, bursts, and other key metrics such as customer complaints and supply interruptions
Data capture and leakage management system set-ups to enable sub-DMA leakage targeting
Recognised subject matter expert in Netbase, Geohub, 3Rs reporting, and DMA-fingerprinting and underlying data
Providing support to the Senior Planners in the development and coordination of options and least-cost plans used in the management of the security of supply, demand, leakage, and network managementWe’re looking for you to

Ideally have some experience in leakage and/or water networks analytics/systems
Be highly numerate with a proven record of driving data improvement
Have a relevant business/technical experience and an appreciation of technology innovations and techniques
Possess an excellent eye for detail and proven problem-solving ability
Be a team player who takes accountability for your role while working accurately and flexibly within a busy team
Be a strong communicator who can build positive relationships with stakeholders across the business at all levels
Take ownership and be confident with decision making and have a high degree of motivation and resilience
Be competent or have a good understanding of Netbase, Geohub, 3Rs reporting, and DMA-fingerprintingWhat’s in it for you?
