Bouygues Energies & Services (BYES) has an exciting opportunity available for a Quantity Surveyor to be based from the Hinkley Point C site in Bridgwater.   

Our team are currently working on the backup power plant and Emergency Diesel Generators (EDG) at the incredible Hinkley Point C (HPC) Nuclear Power Station project and we are now also in the bid phase for Sizewell C (SZC), a HPC replication project. 
The role will involve commercial management of both the HPC contract and the SZC bid.  

Main Job Purpose:

To assist the Contract Manager in the Commercial management of the HPC EDG Design Manufacture Install & Commission Contract and the SZC EDG bid.  

To prepare contractual correspondence, manage variations, claims with client and sub-contractors.

To coordinate the risk management process. 

The Role:

Works with the Contract Manager in the proactive contract management to protect the interest of BYES.

Coordinates preparation of UK5211 contract claims and defence against Employer and sub-contractor claims. Ensures adequate contemporary record processes are in place to support variations and claims (in particular for Site claims).

Process owner for UK5211 Contract Input Data Configuration / List of Contract Applicable Documents (LACD) process.

Assists in the preparation of contractual communications to client and sub-contractors.

Assists in the preparation of proposals in the context of response to Variation Requests for Proposal (RFP).

Supports the SZC bid team where required.

Provides interpretation of UK5211 contract and sub-contracts to the other team members and educates project team with regard to contractual awareness.

Participates in the risk management activities.

The person will ideally have:

Knowledge of FIDIC (in particular Yellow Book Plant and Design-Build) and NEC3 contracts.

Practical experience/ responsibility for contract management in EPC, DMIC contracts. In particular Variation and Claim (EOT, disturbance loss & expenses…)

Knowledge and experience in Law and Commercial Management.

Risk management skills – Understanding the source of risk, and evaluating risks and methods for their control and mitigation.
