VACANCY: Tooling Engineer

ABOUT US:

Fusion Group is part of the AVK Group; who are market leaders in the design, manufacture and supply of valves, pipe fittings, hydrants and flow control equipment to the Water, Waste Water, Oil and Gas industries throughout the world. Fusion Group is our centre of excellence for the design, development, manufacture and supply of polyethylene and electrofusion fittings and equipment.

We have a vacancy for a technically minded Tooling Engineer to join our team in Chesterfield. You will collaborate with all production teams to ensure that all tools are prepared to meet the production plan; including strip down, repair and improvements.

Become a member of the engineering team, contributing to the design of our products. This is a key position providing technical support to ensure high levels of productivity and ensure the products are produced right first time.

Apart from an analytical mind, a Tooling Engineer also has important soft skills; strong attention to detail, the ability to deliver a variety of projects effectively on time and a creative flair. It is also important that you have solid project management skills to meet the daily demands of the role.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Maintain tools, including preventive maintenance, in preparation for production to meet the requirements of the production plan. Including tooling strip down and diagnosis for repair and tooling improvements

Assist all production personnel in diagnosing of tooling/production issues.

Polishing of moulds to quality levels.

Fabrication of fixtures and spare parts for tooling.

Ability to mount tooling in injection moulding machines safety.

Assist the process in ensuring adequate stock levels for tooling and consumables are maintained.

Advise on the repair and modification of tooling and assist in implementing solutions.

Highlight when routine repairs are outside of the scope of the company.

Use internal software; Microsoft 365, D365

Maintain a high standard of housekeeping, including 5S.

ABOUT YOU:

Hold recognised qualifications, training, and experience.

Skilled in carrying out repairs to tooling.

Experienced in manual milling, turning & grinding essential.

Fault finding skills and logical thinking.

Good communication skills to all levels.

A knowledge of current Health and Safety and Environmental regulations.

City & Guilds CAD using AutoCad is desirable.

Completed a Toolmaking Apprenticeship is desirable.
