Overview:We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing various accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of accounting principles, and the ability to drive process improvements.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and other accounting transactions.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial reports and disclosures.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to develop accurate and achievable budgets.
Prepare periodic forecasts and variance analyses to track performance against budget and identify trends.
Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial analysis.
General Ledger Management:
Oversee general ledger maintenance and reconciliation processes.
Review account reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
Financial Analysis:
Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Evaluate financial performance, trends, and forecasts, and communicate findings to management.
Identify opportunities for cost savings, revenue enhancement, and process improvements.
Audit Support:
Coordinate and assist with annual financial audits, ensuring timely and accurate completion of audit procedures.
Prepare audit schedules and support documentation, and address auditor inquiries.
Implement audit recommendations and improvements to internal controls.
Tax Compliance:
Assist with tax planning and compliance, including preparation of tax returns and filings.
Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the organization.
Work with external tax advisors as needed to optimize tax strategies.
Team Leadership and Development:
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering their professional growth and development.
Lead by example, promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for accounting-related inquiries and projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
Extensive knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated leadership ability and a track record of driving process improvements.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
