What you'll be doing

We are seeking a diligent Quantity Surveyor to manage all costs and income within their area of responsibility. This role involves supporting senior team members, managing less experienced commercial staff, and handling procurement and supply chain management. The Quantity Surveyor aims to minimize project costs and enhance value for money while maintaining high standards and quality for our customers. Ideal candidates are either chartered or in the final stages of professional membership of RICS, ICES, or CIOB, and will be role models for less experienced team members, maintaining their Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Dimensions:

Financial: Manage all costs and income on building and civil engineering projects.
Organizational: Potentially oversee Apprentice, Trainee, or Assistant Quantity Surveyors.

Interfaces:

Internal: Commercial and wider Project Team.
External: Subcontractors and Customers.

Accountabilities:

Governance: Adhere to the Company’s governance requirements (BMS & GMCEs).
Commercial Management and Administration:
Utilize the company’s ERP and Digital Systems.
Systematically check data and order information.
Measure, record, and value work unsupervised according to rules and procedures.
Prepare Cost reconciliation statements.
Interpret specifications and drawings, prepare Bills of Quantities and Schedules of Rates.
Build up estimates from first principles, including net and gross estimates.
Measure works and agree with subcontractors.
Review weekly/monthly section programs of works.
Plan commercial activities to meet section program requirements.
Collate Cost and Value Information.
Understand customer contracts and manage stakeholders.
Understand delay and disruption programs.

Procurement:
Collect information to specify procurement requirements.
Record and document information, including registration of interest.
Manage and adjudicate subcontract enquiries.

Who we're looking for

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

Essential Qualifications:

BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent knowledge.
CSCS Card (Academically Qualified/Professional Qualified Person).
MRCIS/MCInstCES/MCIOB or working towards these qualifications.
