The Company

Based in Kingston Upon Hull, my client is a market leading professional services organisation with a track record of growth in recent years. Known for its meticulous attention to detail and commitment to client satisfaction, the company has built a reputation for delivering high-quality services across a diverse portfolio of clients and industry sectors. The need has arisen to appoint an interim Financial Controller for cover for a period of maternity leave.

Role Overview

Supporting the Senior Management team, you will control all financial aspects of the business including the provision of accurate and timely weekly and monthly management information. In addition, you will actively contribute to forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.

Key responsibilities

* Oversea the maintenance of accurate and up to date accounting records, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.

* Take ownership of the production of management accounts, offering insightful commentary and analysis to aid informed decision making.

* Lead, manage and develop a small finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

* Evaluate business KPI’s on a monthly basis, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.

* Attend monthly management meetings, presenting financial updates and contributing to discussions on financial strategies and goals.

* Implement efficient financial controls and procedures to drive robust controls, working across the Finance team to ensure appropriate controls are in place and functioning well.

* Participate in strategic planning and decision-making at the senior management level.

Candidate Profile

You will be an experienced and detail-orientated individual responsible for overseeing the financial activities of the organisation, providing financial guidance, and ensuring the integrity of financial information. You will be either a qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA) or qualified by experience with previous team management experience.

Experience/Skills/Knowledge

* Degree or equivalent, Qualified ACA/ACCA or CIMA or equivalent experienced accountant.

* Previous demonstrable experience in the position of a Financial Controller.

* Ability to provide sound independent judgment beyond a pure financial reporting position.

* Communication and people management skills
