Summary:The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in the agriculture industry is a key leadership role responsible for managing the financial operations and strategies of the organization. This position requires expertise in farming accounting and familiarity with industry-specific software. The CFO will play a critical role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the agricultural business while maximizing profitability and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Financial Management and Strategy:
Develop and implement financial strategies, plans, and policies to support the organization's objectives and growth targets.
Conduct financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to provide insights for decision-making and performance evaluation.
Identify opportunities for cost optimization, revenue enhancement, and risk management in alignment with business goals.
Farming Accounting Expertise:
Oversee all aspects of farming accounting, including crop and livestock production, inventory management, and commodity pricing.
Utilize industry-specific software and tools for farm financial management, such as FarmLogs, Granular, or AgriXP.
Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of agricultural expenses, revenues, and profitability by crop or livestock type.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for internal stakeholders, executives, board members, and external parties as required.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, tax laws, and industry standards related to agricultural finance and accounting.
Coordinate with auditors and regulatory agencies to facilitate audits and inspections, maintaining transparency and adherence to standards.
Budgeting and Cost Management:
Develop annual budgets and financial plans for farm operations, taking into account factors such as input costs, market trends, and yield projections.
Monitor budget performance and variance analysis, identifying areas for cost reduction or efficiency improvement.
Implement cost control measures and procurement strategies to optimize resource utilization and maximize profitability.
Strategic Leadership and Collaboration:
Serve as a strategic advisor to the executive team and board of directors, providing financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, marketing, and supply chain, to align financial strategies with business objectives and operational needs.
Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, agricultural economics, or related field; Master's degree or CPA preferred.
Extensive experience in financial management, preferably in the agriculture industry, with a focus on farming accounting and operations.
Proficiency in industry-specific software for farm financial management, such as FarmLogs, Granular, or AgriXP.
Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex financial data and trends in the agricultural sector.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute financial strategies that drive business growth and profitability.
Commitment to integrity, ethical conduct, and compliance with financial regulations and industry standards.
Compensation:
Annual salary range: $160,000 to $180,000
Performance-based bonus: 10%
