Our client, a prestigious global engineering firm based in Plympton, Plymouth are looking for an experienced Production Operator Setter.
Job Purpose
Our client is looking for a skilled Production Operator Setter with a focus on assembly tasks to join their production team. This role primarily involves assembling parts according to detailed drawings and specifications and occasional setting up machines (generally toll changes) for production. The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of automated machines, proficient with hand tools, and have experience of working accurately and efficiently in manufacturing environment.
Key Accountabilities
* Perform assembly tasks using hand tools such as hammers, oneumatic rivet guns, torque wrenches and power drills.
* Ensure all assembled parts meet quality standards and adhere to product requirements.
* Set up machines for production runs according to job board.
* Ability to read both engineering drawings and work instructions to assemble parts accurately against SOIs.
* Conduct routine maintenance and simple repairs on machines, if requested.
* Collaborate with stakeholders in continuous improvement activities.
* Maintain a clean and organised work area, including proper storage of tools and equipment.
* Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Previous experience in machine setup and assembly, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
* Proficiency with hand tools and mechanical equipment.
* Ability to read assembly drawings.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy in assembly work.
* Excellent problem solving skills and a proactive approach to troubleshooting.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Basic computer skills for documentation and data entry.
* Understanding and knowledge of lean and TPM would be advantageous.
Starting pay is 26K with the potential for future training with pay increases.
