Category Manager Non-Food

Our client a large French multinational that is specialized in retail is looking to expand their non-food category with an experienced category manager.

You will be responsible for the total turnover and margin for the non-food product category. In this role you will negotiate with suppliers and further expand our European sourcing network. You will work on the strategy of the non-food category and translate this in to an actionable category plan.

Furthermore in this role you will:
  • Will be responsible for the management of the existing portfolio of internal stakeholders and suppliers of the company, as well as identifying new businesses internally
  • Your job will be to find new opportunities, suppliers and to help all countries and sector to develop additional business or find solution on request from clients EU stores (sourcing of products, negotiation of prices, payment, and delivery terms)
  • Developing new business and building your own portfolio of suppliers
  • Building & maintaining strong relations with your internal partners
  • Working closely with your colleagues from logistics & finance to monitor your business.
  • Following & understanding market trends, strategic thinking and planning and using these to your advantage
  • You will report to the Head of Non-food purchase

We are looking for someone who:
  • Degree in business, purchasing or any similar field or/and retail shop experience complete with Sales or Buyer background
  • You have at least 5 years of relevant experience in retail (shops, head office, suppliers) and ideally in trading,
    Sales manager or buyer experience in retail is a good benefit as the job is a combination of thoses skills
  • Ability to work accurately under stress and highly autonomous
  • Affinity to numbers and strongly developed business-acumen
  • Good sense for market developments
  • Analytical skills
  • A confident and competent negotiator who closes out opportunities
  • Excellent communicator at all levels who both thinks and plans
  • You speak French (not mandatory but highly recommended) and English (compulsory), bonus for Spanish

  • Salary up to gross/month based on previous experience
  • 13 months' salary cycle
