Job Title: Digital Forensics Investigator
Contract: 3-Month Contract, ASAP start (with the possibility of extension)
Hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week (Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:30)
Pay Rate: £23.47 per hour (PAYE)
Location: Grays, RM17 6SL
Job Overview:
As a Digital Forensics Investigator in the Digital Forensics Unit, you will play a key role in supporting criminal, civil, or disciplinary investigations by identifying, recovering, analyzing, and reporting on computer-related evidence. You will also work as a Covert Internet Investigator on cyber-enabled or cyber-dependent investigations, employing your technical expertise to assist in a wide range of cases.
This role also requires providing programming skills to develop custom applications as needed by the department, helping to enhance investigative capabilities. Additionally, you will be responsible for delivering professional digital evidence in criminal casework and may be required to present your findings as expert testimony in courts across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct digital forensic investigations, including identifying, recovering, and analysis of electronic evidence.
Collaborate on cyber-enabled and cyber-dependent investigations as a Covert Internet Investigator.
Analyze and report on digital data retrieved from computers, mobile devices, and other electronic storage systems.
Develop and maintain bespoke applications to assist forensic examinations as the department requires.
Prepare and present professional forensic reports for use in legal proceedings.
Provide expert testimony in criminal cases and court appearances throughout the UK when required.
Stay informed on the latest trends and tools in digital forensics to ensure best practices are maintained.
Requirements:
Proven experience in digital forensics investigations.
Expertise with forensic tools and software (e.g., EnCase, FTK, XRY).
Knowledge of cybercrime investigation methods and covert online investigative techniques.
Proficiency in programming or scripting languages to develop applications (e.g., Python, C#, etc.).
Strong report-writing skills and the ability to present findings clearly and concisely.
Experience in providing expert witness testimony in court.
Relevant certifications in digital forensics (e.g., CFCE, EnCE, CCE) are desirable.Working Hours:
