ABOUT THE ROLE

Join our growing Maintenance and Estates team part of our wider Housing and Maintenance team! You will lead our maintenance team, ensuring the smooth running of upkeep and repair operations and a high-performance working culture. As part of this role, you will be provided a small company van, fuel card, and credit card.
As the Maintenance Supervisor, your role will be varied, including carrying out leadership duties, as well as day to day maintenance, providing a customer focused service. You will make regular visits to our services which are across London, Bedford, Luton, Brighton, Kent, Havering, Liverpool and Nottingham.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00 (including 30 minute unpaid break). You will be based in central office but are required to travel to our different services on a regular basis throughout the week. Up to 2 days work from home a week.

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for someone with proven technical skills and working knowledge of various trades in the given area, this includes carpentry and plumbing. You will be confident in taking ownership of projects, leading a team to ensure compliance, and work within multidisciplinary teams to provide a seamless service. We are looking for someone who can work proactively, use their own initiative in a fast paced environment, and find solutions to challenges that may arise.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Line Management and leadership throughout employee lifecycle this includes; Recruitment, Onboarding, Inductions, training, support and supervision, relations, wellbeing support, and other areas.

* Formalise Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) to monitor objectives.

Maintenance Lead

* Lead on and contribute to providing a professional, customer focused delivery of our maintenance and estate services for the group and subsidiaries.

* Assist the Head of Maintenance and Estates to ensure our properties and estates are kept safe, to required standards and work towards the SIG ‘Good Homes’ standard.

* Develop and sustain initiatives to increase resident and participant involvement in Housing and Maintenance for the Group.

* Work closely with external vendors, book and manage work, which is being carried out externally, this includes but is not limited to electricians, builders, roofers, and other specialist professionals.

* Manage individual company control schedules of timely maintenance and repairs. This includes assignment, completion, and review.

Health, Safety and Environment

* Ensure best practice and compliance in health, safety, and environment throughout the organisation.

* Regular review of risk minimisation procedures. Ensure all incidents, accidents and risks are recorded and reported.

Standards and Compliance

* Produce and present regular reports on various areas which could include but is not limited to inspection reviews, trend analysis, accessibility of sites, regular maintenance and works schedules.

* Compliance with housing, health and safety procedures and policies at Social Interest Group and external governmental law and legislation. Keep up to date with any changes and support with embedding this into best practice for the organisation.

Additional

* Contribute to the development and management of the given budget, ensuring compliance and cost control mechanisms. Ensure expenditure is allocated and processed in the correct manner with financial policies and processes.

* Deputise for the Head of Maintenance and Estates when required.

* Support, and lead on the progression and communication of forms, policies, and processes as well as lead on the continuous improvement for the function, aligning with business growth and values.

* Work collaboratively with the wider team and support with various other activities and developments. This could include but is not limited to delivering relevant training to staff teams.

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position.

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

* Proven appropriate experience in a similar role with similar responsibilities

* Previous experience and/or ability to supervise and lead a team in direct report

* Recognised building trade qualification such as City and Guilds, NVQ, Level 2 or above

* Ability to use, learn, and adapt to IT at an intermediate level, including Microsoft and other software programs

* Ability to work flexibly and at various sites across Social Interest Group

* Understanding of the housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs

* Ability to create a psychologically informed environment through maintenance and estate services which is inclusive to different groups

What we would like, but not essential:

* Experience of helping to develop and implement maintenance plans, strategies, and procedures

* Training and/or qualifications in Legionella Awareness, Asbestos Management and Fire Safety

* Experience in leading a team in a similar industry and/or services similar to SIG

* Experience in completing and managing Risk Assessments

* Previous experience working in the charity sector and/or similar size organisation
