Location: Remote (Ideally based in the North/ North-East England) - travel to sites is required

As a Project Development Engineer you'll contribute to Veolia's growth by developing building services, energy generation and distribution solutions (HVAC, BMS, LTHW, Chilled Water, District Energy, Heat Pumps, Fuel Cells, Low Carbon Heat Network, Steam and CHP) that meet our customer requirements for sustainability, resilience, innovation, performance and optimised life cycle cost.

What you'll be doing;

Act as Technical Lead for selected Business Development opportunities through pre-qualification, concept design, internal approval, proposal submission and handover to construction. Ensuring all relevant departments are involved in the bid team and lead the development for a robust solution and offering.
Provide support to the senior project development engineers on large scale projects to ensure a coherent team effort and individual development.
Carry out energy audits and surveys and identify Energy Conservation Measures (ECM) at potential customer sites. Assessment of existing system configuration and operation at client sites and identify any potential interventions that can improve system efficiency.
Support the Go/NoGo process by quickly assessing the technical and commercial viability of opportunities. Be prepared to make a case for recommending a NoGo and formalise.
Provide and develop technical capability through feasibility studies and option assessment on industrial and building services energy saving measures.
Develop energy generation / efficiency / distribution solutions in partnership with our clients to meet their needs for resilience, carbon and energy cost savings across a project life cycle.
Build close relationships with trusted suppliers to develop technical solutions and prepare quotations and where necessary challenging scope, costs, timeline and safety track records.
Prepare tender packages for outline project design for project cost development, working with the construction teams to develop programmes, resourcing, procurement strategies, risks identification and mitigation. Manage internal approval processes for governance and risk mitigation.
Act as the technical lead on client presentations and be at the forefront of the technical department, showcasing our capabilities from the concept to the chosen solution with key focus on the specific design and challenges.
Support BD with bid writing and proofreading for the tender returns and presentations.

What we're looking for;

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Power Generation or similar engineering subject
Experience of the energy industry in particular: building services, HVAC, BMS, steam raising plants, CHP, LTHW systems, Low carbon technology and heat networks
AutoCAD experience for PIDs and schematics
UK Driving licence
Good understanding of thermal process, hydraulics, electrical distribution and controls to lead design reviews
Able to articulate a good understanding of design concepts to lead the in-house team through the project development process.
Experienced with project planning skills and capable of contributing to the development and negotiation of contract terms.
Commercially astute with experience of costing models.
Proficient with Microsoft/Google spreadsheets, documents, Gantt charts, presentations and working with cloud based documents in a broader collaborative team approach.
Ability to identify and develop solutions to improve existing industrial, healthcare and building services contracts to increase efficiency and performance.

Desirable:

Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D
Experience with Naviswork
Experience with Excel/google sheets for complex formulas
