As a social worker within the team, you will be case responsible for UASC from the point of their entry into Suffolk until their transition into adulthood as a care leaver.

You will be expected to work closely with the Experienced Social Worker and Consultant Social Worker in addressing new trends/concerns within our cohort of clients and draw together partner agencies in ensuring the needs of our UASC are being met.

You will be expected to offer all the statutory duties required for children in care, plus support UASC with their Asylum application which involves solicitor and home office appointments.

Be accustomed to working with translation and interpreting services when undertaking statutory visits, professionals meetings and phone contact.

Where possible, support UASC with family/friend contact.

* Suitable qualification at graduate level or equivalent experience in a relevant area of work.

* Ability to clarify risks and concerns and focus on solutions to create a climate in which change can happen.

* Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and guidance as appropriate to role

* Ability to recognise and act on Child Protection and risk issues and escalate as appropriate.

* Demonstrating knowledge and application of the early intervention and preventative agenda.

* Knowledge of associated agencies and their working practices and roles.

* Ability to use a range of assessment frameworks

* In depth knowledge of the social and emotional factors that affect a child’s capacity to learn and develop.

* Understanding the diverse range of needs of clients and backgrounds.

* Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills in order to:

* Engage effectively with a range of audiences including professional stakeholders.

Additional requirements

* To work in a variety of locations and client’s homes, including rural areas if required by the post.

* A DBS check will be undertaken for the successful candidate.

* High level of organisational skills and the ability to plan ahead, prioritise work and meet deadlines.

* Willingness to undertake training as required to update knowledge and skills.

* Evidence of successfully working alone as well as part of a team.

* Ability to undertake out of hours working if required.
