SENIOR FINANCE OFFICER

Grade H/WBC Spinal Points 23-29, 37 hours per week, term time only (and up to two weeks per annum as additional hours on a timesheet basis)

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Senior Finance Officer who is keen to help develop the school’s finance processes, predominantly overseeing the schools Main School Budget. This includes managing the financial aspects of the schools financial systems and controlling all monies received.

The person we are seeking will:

* support the Headteacher and the Governing Body, specifically in relation to matters of finance, in order to ensure that the school realises its aims and objectives;

* take full responsibility for all aspects of the school’s financial systems, including their operation and security;

* ensure that school expenditure is within budget and maintains “best value” principles in relation to the procurement of goods and services;

* ensure that financial procedures are compliant with all current legislation, including completion of formal returns required by outside agencies, such as Inland revenue and Department for Education;

* identify areas of process improvement, make proposals for change and manage agreed projects falling within this area of responsibility or as determined by the School Business Manager

Little Heath School is a highly successful comprehensive school (1658 on roll, including 366 in the Sixth Form) situated in a pleasant semi-rural setting to the west of Reading, with good access to road and rail links. The school has recently benefited from a significant and transformational building project, opening a new £15 million main block in spring 2021.

This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, and therefore the ability to converse at ease with pupils/members of the public and provide advice/instruction in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
