Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Directs all aspects of the courses regulated by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS), including the coordination and scheduling of academic instruction and clinical experiences.
* Maintains effective relationships with health care facilities, professional organizations, and clinical personnel to promote positive learning experiences for students.
* Serves as program faculty by teaching 3 course credits per Fall and Spring semesters.
* Participates in instructor selection, recruitment and retention to ensure adequate staffing, at all times, to meet program needs.
* Works closely with the Academic Coordinator to maintain accurate and complete:
* Records/reports on students.
* Contracts with clinical sites.
* Credentialing/licensure/immunization(s)/records as required by the profession on all assigned faculty as.
* Submit reports to accrediting/regulatory agencies.
* Coordinates systematic program evaluation plan to ensure both student and course outcomes are met and present plans for improvement when needs are identified.
* Conducts faculty assessments and provides input into assessment and assistance procedures for staff members.
* Develops and maintains a positive relationship with program Industry Advocate Team (IAT) members. Activities include scheduling team members as guest speakers, coordination to assist in job placement and possible donations of equipment and supplies.
* Manages program budgets for the KDADS regulated courses
* Purchases and maintains instructional equipment meeting industrial safety and operational standards.
* Facilitates student recruitment and retention activities including but not limited to high school visits and college activities, such as Open House, Program Information Sessions, and tours.
Requirements
* Bachelor of Science, Nursing or Bachelor of Science degree if granted prior to July 1, 2001, required. In exceptional cases an Associates degree with a combination of (at minimum) three years industry and /or post-secondary teaching experience in one of the health science program area may be considered in lieu of Bachelors Degree completion a plan of study will be implemented to complete Bachelors Degree.
* Kansas RN license (unrestricted), required.
* Three (3) years current nursing educator experience and administrative experience, preferred.
* Minimum two years current clinical experience, one of which must be equivalent to one year full-time in a licensed long term care facility.
* Teaching experience in adult education preferred.
* Must be available for required course assignments.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills must be able to work with students, technical and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner.
* Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
* Ability to use personal computer and software applications.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Ability to accurately and quickly process, enter and audit data.
* Ability to effectively organize and direct personnel during crisis or emergency situations.
* Demonstrate ability and knowledge to provide team leadership for planning.
* Ability to pre-plan course work.
* Must complete new faculty orientation within one semester of start date.
