Family Support Worker

Umbrella Pay- £16.28 per hour

02/05/2024 – 5 months initially

Monday to Friday, 8.40am – 5pm, 36.4 hrs/week – Hybrid

Our client are seeking a Family Support Worker to join a Children with Disabilities/ Short Breaks team based in Oldham.

* Direct work with children and families

* Complete short break assessments and reviews for children with disabilities

* Contribute to and implement individual plans for children and young people, in partnership with parents, carers, social workers and other agencies

* Assist in the review and evaluation of cases, through observations, assessment and monitoring, ensuring actions are followed up

* Provide written and verbal contributions to child protection/Child in Need reviews, Looked After Children (LAC) statutory reviews, multi-agency meetings and to hold Children in Need cases as appropriate

* Ensure all support plans are meeting the children’s individual needs

* Assessment visits to provide emotional and practical support and advise on issues they are having

* Welfare visits and family support tasks at family homes and other designated venues

* Understanding of resourcing available to meet the needs i.e.. support groups, children’s centres and support with access to these resources

* Safeguard the welfare of children who are subject to child protection/ child in need plans and/or in the care of the local authority

* Keep and maintain accurate files and records

* Supervise, and use observation and assessment skills to provide detailed and accurate recordings

* Attend meetings reviews and conferences where necessary

* Provide written and verbal contributions to meetings based on the children and families

* Collaborate in the preparation of assessments by providing written practical parent observations to the social worker, which may be presented to court as evidence. To attend court in connection with these assessments if required

Requirements

* UK Driving Licence, access to a vehicle, business insurance

* Recent experience working with children with disabilities

* Recent experience working with children in need, young people & their families

* Experience of keeping accurate records and writing short reports

* An understanding of current child care legislation and child protection issues

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Enhanced Child DBS registered onto the update service
