The role of the ALS tutor is to provide high quality teaching and learning for English, Maths, language and study skills to identified SEND learners in small groups and 1:1 to learners across our academies.

In this rewarding role, you will provide in and out of class support to assist learners with learning difficulties/disabilities to help them achieve their best possible outcomes.

You will be a key part of the team, and will assist in the planning, preparation & assessment of learning, giving feedback to tutors and managers on learners.

You will have the personal skills and experience to be able to effectively support learners, dealing with challenging behaviour when it arises, and helping them to develop their own coping strategies.

We are currently recruiting for a highly organised, ALS Tutor to join our team. This role will require the successful candidate to work in partnership with our business to ensure learner completion to the highest quality.

The role will require travel between Academies and venues.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following areas:

Deliver teaching and learning sessions for small groups to facilities support session on English, maths, language and study skills

To complete assessments on learners in line with quality teaching and learning

To set and review SMART targets for learners attending session in line with quality teaching and learning

Utilise learning resources and opportunities, including ICT, fully and effectively in order to enhance learner experience and employability

Assessing additional support and referrals to make recommendations for reasonable adjustments

Providing guidance on support options in ways that will maximise individual learning potential and achievement advising on how teaching practice and learning environments can become adjusted to the needs of the student

Signposting learners to appropriate internal and external agencies and services

Working collaboratively with quality department including attending curriculum meetings and maintaining strong communication to discuss progression and support for learners

Devising and reviewing risk assessments, support plans and recommendations for support delivery

Providing and or coordinating training for team members as required
