Role: Finance Officer
Location: North London
Days/hours: Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm
Type: Temporary, minimum 4 weeks
Rate: £18 - £22p/h, depending on experience
Due to changes in legislation our client, and educational institute, is seeking a Finance Officer to offer additional support during this period of transition they are currently going through. Based in North London, this is a temporary position for a minimum of 4-8 weeks, possibly longer. Working Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm.
Responsibilities will include:
* Implementation of VAT - from exempt to vatable business
* Researching new software for finance upgrade
* Implementation of new processes for credit cards, expenses, trips etc
* Streamlining and automating processes as much as possible
* Training team in VAT implementation
* Budgeting and management accounts
* Modelling and forecasting
* Writing Board papers
* Year End audit (August)
* VAT reclaim (4 years and 10 year Capital Goods Scheme)"
* Day to day admin including: billing, purchase, payroll activities
* Creating / checking journals such as petty cash, payroll etc
* Bank reconciliations
* VAT recovery work on old invoices
Ideal candidate will have:
* Experience in the same or similar role
* Knowledge of the educational sector would be useful
* Advanced level MS Excel and Sage experience
* Ehanced DBS registered on the update service
* Outstanding communication skills both written and verbal
* Solid VAT experience (including coding, checking, understanding difference between exempt, zero-rated and outside the scope of VAT)
* Excellent attention to detail
* Ability to support team through period of change
* Happy to jump in where needed
