Our client is a leading global manufacturer within the automotive industry. They are looking for a Senior Strategic Buyer to join their growing procurement team. In this critical role to the team, you will play a vital part in driving cost savings, mitigating risks, and ensuring the successful procurement of essential materials and services for global operations.

Job Title: Senior Strategic Buyer

Location: Uttoxeter

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000

The Role:

As a Senior Strategic Buyer you will be responsible for managing the operational aspects of the supply chain, supporting the operational team in your division, and developing category strategies to ensure we have a robust and competitive supply chain for the long term.
Engage early with engineering and suppliers to ensure the best products are sourced from the start of our projects.
Manage the weekly operational workload for your supply base - ensuring you meet the team KPIs
Manage the New Product Introduction (NPI) process for your categories - ensuring product is available and right first time to achieve successful machine launches
Manage multiple resource / capacity projects with suppliers to ensure our client can achieve their 5-year plan
Support Division acting as an escalation point for Delivery / Quality / Warranty issues relating to your categories
Responsible for leading contractual negotiations for your suppliers (Long Term / Development / Warranty Agreements etc)
Work with suppliers and engineering to identify new technologies to reduce cost and or add additional value.
Develop strong relationships within the company and supply base, taking responsibility and accountability for making and influencing key decisions that benefit the client.

Requirements

Extensive procurement experience in a manufacturing environment
Proven success in developing and implementing long-term category strategies
Understanding of key cost drivers within a supply base
Confident negotiator with a history of achieving significant cost reductions
Experience managing NPI programs from concept to product launch
Skilled in handling multiple projects and coordinating cross-functional teams for on-time delivery
Experience managing high-level supplier relationships and delivering tangible benefits
Ability to build strong internal relationships, preferably with technical engineers
