Construction Estimator - to £52k plus car allowance – Chelmsford, Essex
This company is an established construction and building services company with a small and friendly team based in offices located in the grounds of a country estate with ample free parking. They have over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry operating across all key markets, specialising in Healthcare and Education.
They are proud to have a successful long standing and respected relationship with the NHS Trust. We are also a fully certified BM Trada contractor offering supply, installation and maintenance of fire doors.
The Role:
You will be the main receiver of all incoming quotes through Multi Quote issued by the NHS which require logging, compiling and returning in sometimes very short deadlines.
You will be required to actively search tender portals for new opportunities and liaise with the commercial team and sub-contractors to compile and return the packages.
Assist the project manager in compiling quotes for projects, some will involve attending site meetings at various locations.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive and log incoming quote requests through Multi Quote. Issue specs from this to contractors, arrange site visits for surveying, chase quotes up. Build quotes and upload back onto system within timeframe (some within 24 hours).
Actively search for new tenders and compile responses to tenders agreed.
Price projects for clients and send quotations.
Source prices/Quotes from suppliers and sub-contractors.
Assist in forming good relations with clients
Monitor project costs.
Assist with project variations.
Identify areas to improve margin.
Support other members of the commercial team.
Skills:
The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast paced environment with the ability to be proactive and turnaround quotes in short deadlines.
Experience in commercial projects and a proven track record working for a main contractor.
Experience of working with the NHS is desirable but not essential.
Proactive and responsive.
Experience using tender portals i.e: Multi Quote, Proactis, Contracts Finder etc.
Experience in compiling tender packages and PQQ’s.
The ability to manage your own project workload.
Excellent time management skills, with ability to work to tight deadlines.
Proficiency in MS Office particularly Excel.
Effective communications skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Knowledge and understanding of building and construction industry
