Financial Controller

Role purpose:

The Corporate Controller & Reporting Analyst is a member of the Group Commercial and FP&A team, working to improve understanding and responsible for reporting of Corporate Functions operating expenses, exceptional expenses and CAPEX. The role holder will work directly for the Head of Finance, working alongside the Record to Report Global Process Owner's team (Controlling Team) and FP&A team, to provide analysis of Corporate costs. The role holder will also provide insights to performance of shared Corporate costs (personnel related costs and property/ facilities costs).

The role holder will be the "go-to" person for the wider Finance team and FBP's at period end close telling at a high level what is financially happening within the Corporate shared cost base and PY. Ensuring that financial results are accurately understood and reported to the FP&A team and that financial issues are proactively identified and acted upon by the Controlling Team.

Working across Finance teams to drive best practice and continuous improvement thought common templates and controls being developed and implemented consistently across LRQA.

Key Responsibilities:

Support Head of Finance by preparing monthly consolidated reviews and reporting of the actuals for the Corporate team, provide insights on performance of shared costs (personnel costs across corporate functions and facilities / property) and ensure they are understood monthly, quarterly and annually.

Highlight and resolve issues to ensure accurately reported results that are ready for review by the Business in accordance with published timetables.

Support budget and forecast processes by preparing consolidated views for Corporate and assess Risks & Opportunity for areas within remit. Support preparation of presentations, Support and provide information for quarterly Corporate Functions reviews. Develop financial models and analysis to support scenario planning and sensitivity analysis.

Material variances to Budget, latest forecast and Prior Year are explained through appropriate bridges and commentaries.

Build strong relationships with the Controlling Team and FP&A team such that continuous improvements are identified and driven beyond own area of responsibility.

Provide ad-hoc timely, accurate analysis and good quality management information to enable decision support.
Support the audit process for Corporate Functions, directing and answering audit queries in relation to P&L are managed effectively. Ensuring the responses are clear and concise and reflect the risk to the reported results.

Support financial governance, ensure robust control with focus on financial, management accounting and cost

Use of core systems (ByD and BPC)

Continuous process improvement - link to Accounting (R2R) and Data & Analytics teams. Proactively implement solutions.

Technical / Professional Qualifications / Requirements:

Minimum Bachelor degree in Finance related subject. Minimum 5 years' experience operating in an international finance function, including Shared Service Centre experience.

Knowledge and/or experience of management accounting is highly desirable.

Qualified Accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)

A background of strong controlling and analytical skills to deliver accurate governance and reporting in a global and complex organisation

Good knowledge of finance (financial analysis, controlling, budgeting / planning)

Ability to manage deadlines and quick turnarounds with attention to detail

Excellent MS Office skills and preferably working knowledge of SAP ByD and BPC

Excellent communication and Presentation skills
