The Role

The Ireland Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying business opportunities and developing customer relationships with clients across a range of sectors to ensure long-term volume growth. The role is responsible for client management to maximise potential and working closely with the customer service team to ensure a smooth transition of accounts. It is a key requirement to manage and work effectively with all other members of the commercial and trade teams to maximise the success of attracting and maintaining throughput across trade areas as well as communicating and reporting as required.

Your responsibilities as our Business Development Manager will include:

  • Achieving budget targets on revenue and volume for relevant accounts.
  • Managing Business pipeline to increase sales.
  • Identifying new business opportunities and follow up new sales leads to secure the success of the business.
  • Establishing and maintaining excellent customer relationships to ensure Containerships achieve an optimum throughput from each individual customer including regular visits to customer's own premises.
  • Developing effective methods of reporting and analysing revenue and volume and ensure any customer issues are dealt with in a timely way and communicated to relevant personnel.
  • Assisting in the marketing and PR of the company by representing Containerships at relevant functions, workshops, and exhibitions.
  • Ensuring the smooth transition of accounts to the customer service team through good communication both internally and externally.
  • Creating and promoting a customer-service culture across the business by working closely with colleagues across the group on issues and opportunities.

To succeed in the Business Development Manager? role, you'll need:

  • Business graduate or experienced sales manager within the shipping industry.
  • Full Clean driving Licence is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of short sea shipping / EU Ro/Ro Markets.
  • Extensive knowledge of the trailer market in Ireland & EU.
  • Technical skills in developing specialist supply chain networks.
  • Strong commercial/sales background with proven negotiating skills.
  • Shipping or Logistics company experience including European supply chain.
  • Understanding of systems to extract and interpret sales data.
