Support Worker Required - (Streetly/Sutton Coldfield)

We have an amazing opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive Support Worker in the Streetly/Sutton Coldfield area. The role will be supporting a lovely 59-year-old gentleman with an Aquired Brain Injury whose interests include walking his dog, motorcycles, eating out and spending time with friends and family. You will support our client to maintain his independence, both at home and in the community. This role will include personal and domestic care, therapeutic support, social and leisure outings. 

You will be working as part of a small team and be contracted to work 24 hours per week, covering two day shifts, the occasional sleep in night and a weekend shift on a rota basis. Additional hours may be available to cover holidays and sickness.

Training will be provided for the right candidate and regular supervisions will take place to support you.

Salary:  

£13.39 per hour weekdays  

£14.41 per hour weekends 

£11.44 per hour sleep in

 What you will be doing: 

Assist the client to exercise choice and control over their own lives as far as they are able in everyday matters but taking into consideration their cognitive problems

Liaise with and support the family as required

Assist the client with personal care as needed

Supporting the client to use local amenities such as shops and leisure facilities and attend community events

Follow the service user plan as documented for the client

Maintain accurate and confidential records

Participate in manual handling procedures as specified for the client

Maintain professional boundaries with the client and their family members, adhering to direction from the team leader and case manager as appropriate

 About you: 

Essential 

Able to work on a rota basis

Friendly and approachable

Dependable and professional - you value honesty and discretion

Flexible and work well under pressure

Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS and enrol in the DBS update service

Preferred 

Experience of supporting someone with a brain injury ideally working one to one with clients in their own home

Full, clean UK driving licence with access to a car and business use insurance
