Our client is a manufacturer of specialty films, foils, laminates and resin thermal transfer ribbons. They are looking for a Process Engineer to join their team and be responsible for ensuring all manufacturing processes are safe and efficient.

The products manufactured need to be of high quality at all stages, the Process Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that the processes are maintained to reach this goal and implement continuous improvement. They will also be responsible for the introduction of new products and processes to the same safety, quality and reliability standards. The Process Engineer will have a high degree of understanding of all processes and the ability to solve problems and find practical solutions to them.

Responsibilities:
• Ownership of manufacturing processes ensuring safe operation with regards to exposure and explosion and ensuring all parts run effectively by day-to-day problem solving and defining procedures, control cards and specifications.
• Identify, champion and where necessary implement product/process continuous improvement opportunities, utilising the company’s resources to improve operational performance and customer satisfaction.
• Executing projects that improve plant profitability through scrap reduction, process efficiency, quality improvement and optimisation of new products for successful commercialisation.
• Assisting all production technicians in their understanding of the product and processes as part of both their initial and ongoing training.
• Design of new converted products.
• Assist site chemist in designing/running trials for new products and replacement materials.
• Provide technical support to customers as required.
• Working as part of the technical team solving any technical issues which may arise.
• Support role for BSI ISO 9001 audits and auditing internal quality procedures.

Candidate profile:
• Professional experience in printing/coating manufacture desirable
• Degree level qualification in Chemical Engineering or Technical discipline
• Experience using manufacturing improvement tools such as 80/20, Six Sigma, Kaizen etc.
• Experience with a QMS (Quality Management System) compliant to ISO 9001

In return, our client is offering a salary range of up to £50,000 depending on experience.
