Class 1 HGV Driver

Our client is seeking an experienced Class 1 HGV Driver to drive within the UK and continental Europe delivering to customers and collecting from suppliers. On most weeks, you will start on a Sunday afternoon and finish on a Friday evening, with every third Sunday off. This means you will be on the road for most of the week.

Due to the product type and mix, this role will require a willingness and ability to help customers unload and you will need to also help with duties in the yard whilst between loads.

You will be required to participate in a Company HGV Driver medical if you are offered this role.

Your main responsibilities:

* Drive, load and unload the vehicle

* Be one of our customer-facing representatives

* Maintain communication with our Logistics team

• Drive the vehicle at all times within the parameters of the relevant legislation and Regulations.

• Comply fully with Driver’s charter.

• Operate the vehicle efficiently with regard to mechanical, administrative and time constraints.

• Ensure a comprehensive knowledge of current relevant legislation and regulations.

• Carry out all daily vehicle checks as specified and complete relevant administration as required.

• Report any vehicle defects and any subsequent action taken; fill in relevant defect sheets.

• Wash and maintain company vehicles as required.

• Report any accidental damage to vehicle or property at the very earliest opportunity.

• Be aware of, and act in accordance with, company policy in regard to the actions required in the event of an accident.

• Be aware of impending service dates and inform the Transport Manager of any additional service requirements.

• Liaise with transport planner to achieve efficient route planning.

• Pay all relevant fines levied against the driver for motoring offences
