Upholsterer

We are currently looking to recruit on behalf of a well-established company in Darwen. The vacancy is for an Upholsterer and will be recruited on either a temporary to permanent or permanent basis, offering a high standard working environment with various benefits.

The key responsibilities for the position are:

* To prepare fabric and components for use in upholstery and/or soft furnishings.

* To prepare to upholster items of furniture involving preparation of the frame for upholstery, application of suspensions and filling materials.

* To competently fix upholstery to standard items of modern furniture and traditional furniture using a handheld staple gun, screw gun and other hand tools.

* Maintaining a high level of quality and meeting production efficiency of at least 90%, in accordance with Company’s standards.

* Carry out cleaning and basic maintenance of work areas and machinery.

Hours of work:

* Monday -Thursday 7am - 4pm & Friday 7am - 12.45pm.

The ideal candidate will have:

* High degree of upholstery skills with a minimum of 2 years’ experience is desirable.

* The ability to produce a good quality product with excellent attention to detail.

* Practical skills, manual dexterity, especially hand skills and co-ordination.

* Manual handling, as some lifting is required.

* Ability to use own initiative and to work quickly to meet production deadlines.

* Measuring and cutting skills would also be beneficial.
