Performs general manual labor tasks associated with stream restoration, debris clearing, retaining wall construction, silt fence installation, storm drainage and related project tasks. Position includes occasional use small mechanized earthmoving equipment. Must have a clear, valid drivers license & be able to pass a drug screening and background check.
Two years environmental or construction experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate. Must work well in a team environment. Requires coordinated use of both hands and feet, vision correctable to USDOT driver standards, adequate hearing to receive instructions and detect safety/emergency signals. Position requires working on uneven surfaces frequently pushing, pulling and carrying equipment, objects and debris of varying size, shape and weight. May occasionally lift up to 80 pounds, frequently lift 31-45 pounds and continually lift 16-22 pounds. Will use manual hand tools and power tools (chainsaw, etc.) with exposure to noise and vibration. May operate mechanized earthmoving/transfer equipment that involves extended seated work with exposure to rough ground conditions, bumping/jostling and vibration. Daily exposure to the elements, including heat, cold stress, and nuisance dust conditions, along with woodland, streamside and swampland flora and fauna. May also be required to perform detailed tasks, such as tool maintenance and repair. Possess a valid NC driver's license with a clean driving record. Must pass drug screenings and background checks. May work up to 12 hours per day. Will require out of town stay for extended periods of time, this includes per diem, hotel expenses and accommodations provided.
