Research Electrical Engineer A motivated Electrical Engineer is sought to assist with device development at the Tearney Lab. The Engineer will be responsible for design, fabrication, testing, and validation of research instruments and devices developed by the Tearney research group in the Wellman Center for Photomedicine. The candidate will work with multidisciplinary teams to create novel technologies and devices for both clinical and research applications. Devices include wearable devices and sensors, implantable sensors, rotary junctions, and imaging systems. Tasks revolve around electrical design including: breadboard prototype circuit design, design of custom PCBs, signals generation and manipulation, safety circuit design, and soldering electrical components. As a member of the Tearney Lab, the Engineer may occasionally write software and design mechanical housings. The Engineer may also mentor or teach their fellow engineers, technicians, graduate students, and fellows in the development of electrical/optical systems. As the Tearney Lab is a translational lab, the Engineer will also ensure that device testing is preformed, and systems are well documented to industry standard design control system specifications. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Note: The term medical equipment may be either or all of electrical, mechanical and computer-based technologies for use in clinical or research applications. - Design, fabrication, testing, and validation of medical and research devices including electrical and mechanical systems. - Design electrical subcomponents using layout and simulation software. - Manufacturing electrical subcomponents from internal and external sources. - Develop protocols and procedures for the use, maintenance, and testing of equipment - Construct new electrical designs and devices and duplicate existing systems for new projects. - Assist in capital equipment purchases and preparation of budgets. - Lead and participate in conducting experiments and testing of developed components. - Perform other related duties as required.
