Do you have experience in reading engineering drawings?
CALLING ALL WELDERS! Due to the continued expansion of our client's manufacturing business, we are looking for an experienced Welder to join their very busy production team.
The successful candidate will be working full-time Monday to Friday in a thriving company that puts quality first on its products & services
Shift choice
06:30 – 15:30 (Mon to Thursday)
06:30 – 11:30 (Fridays)
Or
07:30 – 16:30 (Mon to Thursday)
07:30 – 12:30 (Fridays)
Responsibilities
* Develop the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications, layout, assembly, and welding procedures.
* Build proficiency in identifying the necessary tools and equipment required for the task at hand.
* Master the skills of laying out, positioning, and securing parts and assemblies in adherence to specified guidelines.
* Build up and demonstrate expertise in the pre-heating and cleaning of metals, as well as the precise layout, cutting, and fitting of welding materials.
* Ensure the development of knowledge on selecting optimal welding heat, along with the correct type and size of electrodes to ensure proper penetration and strength of welded metals.
* Learn and execute flat, vertical, and horizontal welding techniques, including coating non-ferrous metals, and conducting inspections, brushing, and grinding of welds.
* Develop the ability to create templates and other work aids for the proper holding and alignment of parts.
* Become familiar with the routine equipment maintenance procedures and discern when specific maintenance is required.
* Carry out inspections on equipment, structures, and materials to identify the root cause of errors, problems, or defects.
* Engage in physically demanding activities involving extensive use of arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and material handling.
Ideal Skills and abilities
* This role demands a long period of standing, so candidates must be suitable for the physical demands required.
* Must be able to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the finders, hands and wrists.
* Good manual dexterity skills are a key factor in this role.
* A good eye for detail and spotting imperfections is required for the job.
* Would suit a candidate who wants to learn and build upon skills and techniques
* Has an awareness of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
* Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
* Ability to organise work and prioritise.
