A highly regarded secondary school in Walsall is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join the team as a Head of Year | Pastoral Lead for the upcoming academic year. *** September 2024 start, until July 2025 finish
*** Provide 1:1 pastoral support to a particular year group.
 
The Head of Year | Pastoral Lead will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive school culture, ensuring the wellbeing of students, and supporting their academic journey. This dynamic role requires a proactive and empathetic individual capable of managing student welfare, addressing pastoral issues, and promoting a harmonious school community.
 
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the pastoral care and wellbeing of a designated year group, providing guidance and support to students.
Develop and implement strategies to promote positive behaviour, attendance, and academic progress.
Act as a key point of contact for students, parents, and staff regarding pastoral matters.
Coordinate and lead assemblies, year group meetings, and enrichment activities.
Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to address and resolve student issues.
Maintain accurate records and reports related to student wellbeing and progress. 
Ideal Candidate:

Proven experience in a pastoral or similar educational role within a secondary school setting.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
A passion for student welfare and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive school environment.
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work under pressure.
A proactive and empathetic approach to addressing student needs and challenges.
