Our client Scottish Power are seeking a Process and Compliance Quality Manager for a long-term ongoing contract opportunity based primarily in Edinburgh but offering hybrid working.
The Eastern Green Link 1 (EGL1) Project is a critical infrastructure project that will facilitate the transmission of electricity for one million homes and businesses, with clean, green energy from Scotland to homes and businesses in England and Wales. The Project will significantly contribute towards targets in the government’s Energy Security Strategy and delivery of net zero.
Reporting to the EGL1 PMO Lead, the Process and Compliance (Quality) Manager will manage EGL1 Quality Assurance compliance (Internal and External (Contractor facing) providing confidence that the project is well managed. Ensuring that the processes effectively create consistently _fit for purpose_ results and enabling continuous Improvement, systematically identifying, and implementing process improvements (Lessons learned and continuous improvement) so that future regulated HVDC projects can benefit from EGL1 learnings and experience.
What you’ll be doing:
You will be responsible for the development and implementation of the EGL1 JV Assurance processes, throughout the project lifecycle, in accordance with contractual and legislative requirements, and monitoring compliance of this Assurance and Compliance Framework.
Liaising with the EGL1 Workstream leads, to ensure their understanding of the key assurance and compliance areas to include within the parameters of the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and specific Quality Management Plan.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrating a staged approach, evaluating the effectiveness of existing quality control systems, to develop and roll out bespoke quality control standards and guidelines, ensuring that suitable levels of quality assurance and reporting are in place.
2. Throughout design, manufacturing, construction, installation, commissioning, and initial operation, responsible for ensuring that our quality procedures are implemented and monitored effectively in line with the business goals and objectives.
3. Lead assurance reviews for project due diligence, development, and delivery project governance.
4. Interfacing and working collaboratively with the workstream leads to provide an accurate, independent, and credible quality assurance view of the project, highlighting any risks, mitigations and/or improvements and offering advice where required.
5. Provide timely and comprehensive reporting to EGL1 PMO Manager and Senior Management Team.
6. Liaise with EGL1 JV Construction Managers regarding EGL1 Framework compliance and contractual Quality assurance requirements for the LOT1/2 Workstreams.
7. Ensure effective generation, assurance, and management of non-conformances, with realistic stage target dates and actions agreed with NCR owners. Timely raising of Alerts when appropriate with escalation, as required, to reduce risks to the Project.
8. Identify, develop, and deliver business improvement opportunities arising from Assurance Reviews or as directed by the EGL1 JV Project Board.
9. Establishing and driving associated action plans and recommendations to address issues or gaps identified and operate as an effective conduit between EGL1 and Future HVDC link EGL4 to ensure optimal approach.
10. Support other PMO related areas as required.
Skills & Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
• Quality Manager with demonstrable experience of evaluating the effectiveness of existing quality control systems, to develop and roll out bespoke quality control standards and guidelines.
• Excellent working knowledge of quality management systems ISO9001 and/or relevant industry derivative e.g. Experience gained in a highly regulated, National Infrastructure critical Transmission/Utilities project delivery environment.
• Ideally you will have excellent prior experience, knowledge and understanding of the construction lifecycle for major transmission infrastructure projects, or equivalent experience within other areas. Ie. Oil and Gas, Aerospace
• Highly driven, decisive, and focused with strong written and oral communication skills, demonstrated by past report writing experience and ability to negotiate/influence with confidence in presenting complex information in an understandable, logical and consistent manner to stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment, build relationships at all levels and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve quality issues effectively
