Job Description:
We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Staff Accountant to join our team. The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting activities, preparing financial reports, and analyzing financial data to provide insights and recommendations to management. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent leadership skills, and a track record of driving process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger Management: Oversee the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts, including recording journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring data integrity.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasting exercises, analyzing variances and trends, and providing recommendations to management to support financial planning and decision-making.
Accounts Payable and Receivable: Supervise the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and receipts, and reconciling accounts as needed.
Tax Compliance: Oversee the preparation and filing of various tax returns, including corporate income tax returns, sales tax returns, and payroll tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, and prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings to management.
Audit Management: Coordinate internal and external audit processes, liaising with auditors, providing documentation, and addressing inquiries and findings as needed to ensure successful audit outcomes.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the accounting function, and lead initiatives to implement changes, streamline processes, and enhance controls.
Training and Development: Mentor and train junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support to facilitate their professional growth and development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
CPA or progress towards CPA certification preferred.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights and recommendations.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Proven track record of driving process improvements and leading change initiatives.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
A proactive and results-driven attitude, with a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
