Fantastic Design Manager opportunity 

Atrium Recruitment are currently parterning with a leading main contractor based in East London. We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join this leading company known for its excellence in construction. Your role will encompass managing design subcontractors and consultants, ensuring designs align with contract, statutory, and building warranty requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership: Head the design team, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including QS, Design Management, subcontractors, and health and safety teams.
Project Collaboration: Liaise closely with key stakeholders to resolve issues promptly and ensure successful project completion.
Design Management: Oversee the design team, ensuring compliance with contract, statutory, and building warranty requirements.
Value Engineering: Conduct value engineering reviews, address Planning Conditions, and obtain necessary approvals from regulatory bodies and customers.
Performance Evaluation: Escalate concerns about designer performance failures to senior management and implement action plans as needed.
Project Completion: Lead project completion activities, ensuring timely submission of As-Built drawings and final designer risk assessments.
Continuous Improvement: Actively contribute to post-contract reviews, capturing lessons learned and providing feedback on designer performance.
Professional Development: Stay updated on industry best practices, contributing to your continuous growth and knowledge enhancement.
Sustainability Commitment: Uphold the company's commitment to sustainability in all aspects of design management.

Qualifications and Experience:

Technical Acumen: In-depth understanding of health and safety, environment, and sustainability requirements for construction projects.
Expertise: Extensive knowledge of construction detailing, buildability, materials, and statutory regulations.
Qualifications: Higher education qualification in construction or design management, or equivalent experience. Membership of CIOB or RIBA is likely.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with experience in chairing meetings involving complex issues.
Analytical Thinking: Identify potential issues promptly, intervene, influence, and escalate when necessary.
Contract Understanding: Strong grasp of contract requirements and their interaction with building regulations and standards.
Customer Focus: Customer-oriented, with the ability to build lasting relationships with clients and teams.
