Sterling Recruitment Services are currently looking to recruit a Setter Technician for our client based in Sedgefield.

Main Purpose: Reporting to Shift Manager, the Technician is responsible for running and setting either thermoforming or Injection Moulding machines with IML Automation. Ensuring they run efficiently and within quality guidelines producing product to the correct customer requirements and BRC quality standards.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Working in accordance with the company’s BRC Certification, Health & Safety policy and good manufacturing practice.
Operate all Illig and Keifel thermoformers or IML machines including robotics in a safe and timely manner.
Ensure the machine packers are trained and utilised correctly, reporting any issues to management.
Perform product changeovers, set-ups and run established tooling to the customers specification and production time targets.
Diagnose and correct running faults in a timely manner once trained to do so.
Effectively communicate progress and any issues that arise to the Shift Manager/Process Engineer.
Responsible for machine handover to the next Shift Technician.
Record and segregate all scrap product in ATR bin provided where applicable.
Complete the required information on the appropriate IT system/paperwork, ensuring completed in full and accurately, including a record of downtime and the reasons.
Maintain machine efficiencies and minimise the amount of scrap produced.
Identify tooling and process issues and communicate these and any defects to your Shift Manager/Process Engineer.
Maintain the thermoforming or IML area including machines to the highest hygiene level possible.
Control the process to maximise output but minimise scrap
Ensure when changing Labels or carrying out a tool change, the correct procedure is followed.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Follow all procedures laid out in the training document and Handbook given when training commences.
Take an active part in any training and development programmes.

The successful candidate should have the:
Good verbal communication and listening skills, all communication both written and verbal must be in English.
Ability to use own initiative to work as an individual or as part of a team unsupervised.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment to meet team expectations.
Ability to operate computer equipment for data purposes.
Ability to use a variety of measuring equipment.
A methodical approach to systems and understanding of the importance of standards and established/agreed systems of work.
Able to make decisions based on experience, have confidence to act and make changes within given boundaries.
Good personal organisation under pressure from time, internal and external customers.
Time management skills.
Ability to read and understand written planning and follow verbal instructions

Hours of work Alternating 7am – 19.00pm and 19.00pm – 7am on a 3 on 3 off 12 hour shift pattern
