Legal Secretary – Litigation - Part Time 3 days per week (Preferably Mon/Wed/Fri)

Location: Stockport

My client, a highly regarded law firm, are recruiting for a part-time Legal Secretary to join their Litigation team in the Stockport office for 3 days per week, preferably Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Within the role you will undertake some fee earning work under supervision and to work with the support team to ensure services are delivered at optimum speed and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

* To manage prioritisation of work, efficiency of service delivery, and client care standards.

* Typing dictations.

* Conduct tasks under the supervision of other fee earners on behalf of clients accurately, reliably, and in accordance with the firm’s quality and risk management procedures.

* To work on court documents and bundles accurately and in accordance with instructions from fee earners.

* Deputise, where appropriate, for fee earners in their absence, taking calls, passing urgent issues to another fee earner for guidance, and support fee earning work undertaken by colleagues when required.

* Provide routine updates to clients without attempting to provide any legal advice and make chasing telephone calls and composing and sending chasing letters to speed up service delivery.

* Use own initiative and knowledge of the work type to make routine requests for information and enquiries to progress the case as quickly as possible.

* Open new files with the support of fee earners and maintain the integrity and accuracy of the information.

* Send all standard letters, some on own initiative, and some at request of fee earner.

* Manage the document assembly and delivery of non-standard letters that have been typed by the fee earner or outsourced and putting them with relevant enclosures and doing all related filing.

* Check for accuracy and ensuring that all correspondence (email and posted) meets the required high-quality standards, and all correspondence is in the firm’s house style.

* Raise all bills (except those raised by members of the accounts team) and sending them out with appropriate correspondence and deal with all payments in, updating the file, and liaising with the accounts team.

* Coordinate within the team all associated tasks such as copying, scanning, binding, and booking couriers etc to ensure service delivery standards are not compromised.

* Provide secretarial support services for the team including for example booking appointments, making travel arrangements, booking and preparing meeting rooms, and diary management.

* Typing skills (Audio 70+ wpm) with good accuracy and attention to detail.

* A team player within the group and firm as a whole.

* Efficient, well organised, and timely.

* Effective communicator by telephone, face to face and in writing.

Experience & Qualifications

* Legal Secretarial experience and relevant training and/or qualifications ideally with experience in a Dispute Resolution team.

* Excellent IT skills – Case Management and MS Word in particular.

* Case Management Administrator able to manage and modify work flows.

• Report to, and be supported by, Senior Fee Earners in the Dispute Resolution Team
