CNC Operative / Welder – Doncaster - £14.13 to £15.53

Responsibilities:

Prepare and operate CNC machine to perform tasks such as drilling, cutting

Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading engineering drawings / mechanical drawings etc.

Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machine

Set up and operate plasma cutting machines designed to cut and shape

After operation duties including marking, grinding, de burring, cleaning of parts, cutting and removal of scrap

Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result

Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality

Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Plan work to minimise waste of raw materials as well as working in a clean and tidy manner.

Read and assess production information for required specification details, working in an organised manner to ensure the task is completed efficiently, to the correct standard and within the necessary time frame.

Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form

Conduct basic quality control checks.

Ensure the safe operation of machinery within the area of responsibility.

Assist in other areas of production within capabilities and commensurate with level in the Company as and when required

Ideal Candidate:

Experience in using oxygen / acetylene, MIG and various hand & power tools to perform, welding / cutting / drilling functions in the fabrication and / or repair of all types of metals.

Welding vocational training or equivalent is desirable.

Knowledge of the practices and procedures associated with the welding trade.

Knowledge of approved welding methods, practices, code requirements and safety standards.

General knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the fabrication and repair of metal.

General knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of welding / fabricating work.

Skill in the use and care of hand and power tools and equipment necessary to perform welding / fabrication and repair tasks.

Ability to utilise various welding machinery and methods to fabricate and repair metal.

Ability to perform manual labour for extended periods of time as required by work assignments.

Good interpersonal skills

Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape.

Good manual dexterity requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as hand tools.

Experience in the manufacture of trailers and trailer bodies is desirable

Working Hours:

40 hours per week - 10 Hour shifts - Monday to Thursday 6.00 am to 16.30 pm (with overtime available)
