Our client is the largest mushroom producer in Canada and is the largest organic mushroom grower in the world. There are growing facilities across Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta. Their highly developed cropping techniques have enabled them to grow all mushroom varieties without the use of any pesticides or fungicides regularly required in the cultivation of mushrooms worldwide. These opportunities are located in Alberta and Ontario, Canada.
Role summary
Your role is to work at the client’s facility, focusing on achieving the highest standards and agreed upon and documented best practices working within their existing compost teams. This role encompasses a strong element of planning and work scheduling aimed at ensuring that the mushroom producer has both the correct quantities and correct quality parameters of Phase I at each stage of the process. You will work closely with the Quality Assurance Substrate Technologist to ensure that the company has an excellent analysis of each batch of compost with a complete focus on achieving the various defined quality parameters. You will also be involved in assisting the overseeing of maintenance for a large array of heavy equipment used at the facility while ensuring that all staff works in a safe and responsible manner at all times.

Cooperates in the Early & Safe Return to Work Program if an injury or medical illness requires a recuperation period away from work.
Wharf and Tunnel/Operational Farm Management
Compost Responsibilities:
*
Assists in overseeing the daily operation of the bunkers, including raw materials, inventory check sheets, work schedules, maintenance, and preventative maintenance checklists
*
Participates in and maintains accurate knowledge of changes to compost schedule decisions allied to at times assisting in the operation of equipment as and when needed
*
Assists in conducting an extensive array of accurate sampling as required for testing in our laboratory focused around the “Compost Criteria” program
*
Maintains a full awareness and record of the required check sheet information, ensuring full completion on an individual and team basis
*
Ensures the highest level of sanitation is maintained within the Compost Wharf Department
*
Assists in monitoring the filling process of compost to ensure timely, safe delivery of compost to the Tunnel facilities
Requirements
*
A combination of Education, designation, and relevant work experience will be considered;
*
University Degree in Business Administration, Agricultural Engineering, Science, Finance or Accounting, experience in a mushroom farm is required.
*
Basic knowledge experience in compost and growing operations preferred
*
Must have a hands-on practical approach
*
Ability to develop financial plans and manage resources including analysis and interpreting financial data
*
Requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
*
A willingness to work a flexible schedule and ability for independent travel
Capable of independent and self-guided work and accepts and adapts to change
*
Attention to detail and accuracy, appropriately balanced with the need to complete tasks
*
Eligible to work in Canada.
Remuneration
