Position : Head of Research and Development, Research and Development Team Leader

Location : Cambridgeshire

Salary : £80,000-£100,000 according to experience and ability

Hybrid : No. This is an office / laboratory / factory based position

Visa : You should already have the right to live and work in the UK without the need for sponsorship or visa support

A privately owned, well backed organisation developing a cutting edge product for the renewable energy market.

The Role :

This is a career-track opportunity for a professional engineer who has the potential and the ambition to become a CTO in the energy technology sector.

You will take the lead for the research and development activity activity of the company. The R & D team consists of mostly postdoctoral research scientists and a development team of mostly engineers, supported by laboratory technicians (approximately 20 staff in total). Your remit will be to drive the technology development process including prototype development, demonstration of technology to internal and external stakeholders (partners, suppliers, customers, collaborators), factory and field based trials, product development and commercialisation.

You will align and co-ordinate research and development to meet market needs as well as the company's goals, mission and vision.

You will manage , lead, inspire and motivate the R & D teams on a daily basis, as well as managing the growth and quality of the team along with the R & D budget

About You :

Qualifications

*Degree and PhD in an engineering or science subject. We may consider degree and masters level qualification if backed up by exceptional professional experience

*Chartered Engineer or Chartered Scientist preferred

*Proven experience in at least two of the following :-

** electrochemical systems

** materials science

** electrical engineering

** chemical engineering

*Proven experience in research and development within engineering or science - 10 years plus preferred

*Proven experience in an R&D management role, either for an SME or the innovation division of a large company
